About Tabatha

From a young age, I have looked out on the ruins of past civilisations with eyes of wonder, which led to my wish to share my passion with the world outside of words on a history book.
Therefore, my journey began in this pursuit with an A-level in Archaeology in 2016 and progressed to an undergraduate degree in Archaeology. During which I have excavated in the Scottish Isles, and learned much of the archaeological processes, gained a great understanding of material culture most strongly from the Upper Palaeolithic (Old Stone Age) through to the Iron Age.
Among many other facets of learning about the peoples of each period and local setting, excavating, surveying, and analysis, I found the output to the public lacking. This is poignant as the ultimate goal of any investigation is to benefit the generations to come and enrich their shared pasts.
This led to a journey in pursuit of methods to conduct this, including a whole year of volunteering with various heritage projects in the West Yorkshire area, including creating an exhibition, curating heritage art collections, and contributing to the Bradford 2025 City of Culture bid. Moreover, I contributed to a pursuit of 3D modelling and VR heritage projects through my master's and now PhD to find new innovative ways to make heritage and archaeology more accessible to the public. Hence, I continue my work towards this pursuit of sharing heritage with the world through my project work and teaching efforts.

About the lesson

Over the last three years, I have had varied teaching experience, including pubic tours in heritage establishments and archaeological digs, as well as undergraduate lecturing and dissertation supervision. I have also completed the first stage of my Learning and Teaching in Higher Education qualification after my PhD with the aspiration of becoming a university lecturer.
As a result of my experiences, I try to tailor my lessons to the topics being taught and my audience, which can include:
-Teaching stages from undergraduate to secondary school.
-Different learning types, including visual, auditory, reading and writing, and kinesthetic learners.
-Requirement for learning, e.g. interest or academic support.
Therefore, upon consultation, appropriate resources can be created or reviewed upon individual request, including PowerPoint, revision (e.g. help in note forming and advice or quizzing), and reading material direction. This also applies to the timespan of a session, which could be up to an hour or less/more as appropriate.
