About Ai

I am currently completing a doctorate in the social & human behavioral science. I specialize in comparative literature, psychoanalytic theory, and philosophies of religion, with a focus on sexuality, gender, and race. Needless to say, I am very well versed in research methods and methodologies, particularly in the humanities and social sciences. I also have university access to research databases.

I have over 10 successful years of teaching middle school, high school and college students.

I taught lower and upper division undergraduate courses, along with mentoring undergraduate students, some of who have gone on to pursue graduate degrees at Research-1 universities, such as Northwestern University, George Washington University, and UC San Diego.

I have an extensive background in both academic and student affairs at the UC level, so I am very familiar with how to effectively navigate the university system.

I also have an extensive background in successfully tutoring and teaching high achieving high school students:

About the lesson

I have received pedagogy lessons from renown thinkers, such as bell hooks and Dr. Bettina Apthekar. My approach to teaching is thus influenced by hooks and Apthekar's respective teaching philosophies, but I am particularly influenced by popular education methods and methodologies. This means that I am student-centered and wholistic in my approach to teaching. In practice, I orient my energies toward cultivating the students' "limitations" into sources of strength.
