About Ciara

I’m Ciara, a Personalized Medicine graduate with a genuine love for biology—it was my favorite subject throughout school, and it’s still the area I’m most passionate about today. That passion is a big part of why I want to tutor: I enjoy helping students see how the pieces fit together and turning “confusing” topics into something that finally makes sense.

Even back in school, I was the person friends came to when they were stuck on a biology concept. I loved explaining ideas in a different way, drawing quick diagrams, and finding simple analogies that made the content click. Those moments—when someone goes from “I don’t get this at all” to “oh, that’s actually straightforward”—are exactly why I want to teach.

At university, I used biology every day: interpreting data, understanding disease mechanisms, and communicating complex ideas clearly in reports and presentations. I want to bring that same clarity and enthusiasm to Leaving Cert students, helping them not only understand the content but also feel more confident walking into their exams.

For me, tutoring isn’t just about grades; it’s about sharing a subject I truly enjoy and helping students build the skills and confidence to succeed in it.

About the lesson

I’m Ciara, a final-year Personalized Medicine student offering focused, online Leaving Cert Biology grinds for 5th and 6th year students. My lessons are designed to boost both understanding and exam performance, with a strong emphasis on exam technique, clear scientific explanations, and confidence building.

How I teach:
Each 40-minute session is structured and student-led: a quick review, targeted teaching on one key topic or question type, guided practice with past-paper style questions, and a short independent task with feedback. I use the “I do → We do → You do” approach, breaking complex ideas into simple steps with annotated diagrams and plain-language explanations. Lessons focus on how to structure answers for marks, use correct terminology, and avoid common pitfalls.

What I offer:

Personalized lessons based on each student’s weakest topics (can be the whole course) and exam goals

Clear, step-by-step methods for tackling common Leaving Cert biology questions

Support with study planning and exam technique, not just content

Who it’s for:
Leaving Cert students (ages 16–18) who want to move to a higher grade.
