About Thomas
Patient, adaptable, and deeply committed to student success. I have always loved learning and strive to help others build confidence in their academic abilities. My approach focuses on meeting each student where they are, breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps, and fostering long-term understanding rather than memorization.
I bring a strong academic foundation in finance and economics, along with comprehensive training in all medical school prerequisites, including physics, calculus, general and organic chemistry, biochemistry, biology, and physiology. I also support students in writing-intensive courses and college-level Spanish.
My experience spans both education and healthcare settings, including tutoring children and teens, preparing taxes, and providing clinical support to underserved populations. Professionally, I have worked as a medical assistant in dermatology and ophthalmology, a certified nursing assistant (CNA), a pathology assistant, and a research assistant in strategic management.
I aim to create a structured, supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, developing skills, and achieving their goals.

My approach as a tutor is highly individualized, structured, and goal-oriented. I believe that every student learns differently, so I tailor each session to match the student’s needs, strengths, and learning style.
Teaching method and techniques:
I focus on breaking down complex concepts into simple, understandable steps, while also reinforcing understanding through active recall, practice problems, and discussion. I emphasize not just memorization, but true comprehension so students can apply what they learn independently.
Typical lesson plan:
Our first session is a brief introduction to build comfort and assess the student’s current level, goals, and challenges. From there, sessions are structured based on need—this may include reviewing class material, working through practice problems, strengthening study strategies, or building organization and time management skills. I adjust each lesson in real time based on progress.
What sets me apart:
I have a strong academic background across multiple disciplines, including finance, economics, and now medicine. I’ve studied in a variety of academic environments (community college, university, and a top-ranked undergraduate program), which allows me to connect with students from different backgrounds and learning situations. I combine this with a genuine passion for teaching and helping others succeed.

I am able to work with students of all ages and levels, from elementary through college, across a range of subjects. I am especially well-suited for students who want structured support, improved study strategies, or help building confidence in their academic abilities.
