About Nazia

Hello! My name is Nazia, and I’m currently a student at Albert Einstein College of Medicine with a strong background in the sciences and mathematics. My passion for tutoring began in high school, when I started helping younger students with homework and state exam preparation. Over the years, that passion grew into a commitment to helping students develop confidence and a deeper understanding of challenging subjects. As an undergraduate at Stony Brook University, I served as a teaching assistant in both Biology and Mathematics courses, and I’ve continued tutoring students of all ages—from elementary school through college. My experience includes working with Khan’s Tutorial, where I helped prepare middle school students for the Specialized High School Admission Test (SHSAT), as well as assisting students with Common Core, Regents exams, and college-level science courses.

About the lesson

As a current medical student with a strong foundation in mathematics and the sciences, I focus on helping students understand not just what to learn, but why concepts work the way they do. My goal is to move beyond rote memorization and foster a deep, intuitive understanding that builds lasting confidence and academic independence.
I believe every student learns differently. I take time to assess each student’s strengths, weaknesses, and preferred learning style, then tailor my lessons accordingly. Whether that means using visual diagrams in biology, step-by-step problem-solving in algebra, or real-world applications in chemistry, I adapt my methods to meet individual needs.

A Typical Lesson Plan
Quick Review: Brief recap of the previous lesson or homework.
Concept Introduction: Explanation of new material with examples and interactive discussion.
Guided Practice: Working through problems together, focusing on technique and reasoning.
Independent Practice: Student-led problem-solving with support as needed.
Summary and Assignments: Wrap-up of key takeaways, clarification of questions, and tailored practice suggestions for next time.

Proven Experience: I’ve tutored students from elementary through college level, served as a Teaching Assistant in Biology and Math at Stony Brook University, and worked with Khan’s Tutorial preparing students for New York State Exams and Specialized High School Admissions Tests (SHSAT).
Holistic Mentorship: I don’t just teach — I mentor students on study strategies, time management, and confidence-building, all of which are crucial for long-term success.
