About Jovita
Hi, I am Jovita, a Computer Science student at Drexel University's Honors College with a minor in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. I have been tutoring students in math for several years, including experience working at Kumon, where I supported students across multiple levels of the Kumon math and reading program. I have worked with learners at the elementary, middle and high school levels across subjects ranging from basic multiplication to pre-calculus.
I chose computer science because I have always loved problem-solving, and math is the foundation of everything I do technically. That means I do not just teach math as a set of rules to follow, I teach it as a way of thinking, which helps students build confidence that carries beyond the classroom. My time at Kumon reinforced the value of consistency, incremental progress, and meeting each student at exactly the right level for them.
Outside of tutoring, I have completed a software engineering internship at Lockheed Martin, conducted undergraduate research, and built real-world applications that rely heavily on mathematical and analytical foundations. I bring that same precision, patience, and attention to detail into every tutoring session.
I am committed to creating a judgment-free space where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and working through challenges at their own pace. Whether you are struggling to keep up, trying to get ahead, or preparing for an exam, I am here to help you get there.

I tutor students in math from elementary school through high school level, including algebra, geometry, and precalculus. My lessons are tailored to each student. I start by identifying exactly where the confusion is rather than re-teaching everything from scratch.
A typical session begins with a quick check-in on what the student is working on and where they are getting stuck. From there I walk through the concept step by step, using concrete numerical examples rather than abstract explanations, because math clicks when you can see it working in a real problem. Once the concept is clear, we practice together, and then I have the student work through problems independently while I guide them through their thinking out loud.
What sets me apart is that I focus on building genuine understanding rather than just getting through the homework. I ask questions like "why does this step work?" and "what would happen if we changed this number?" so students develop intuition, not just memorization. I also have experience breaking down technical concepts clearly, as a Computer Science and AI student at Drexel University, explaining complex ideas in simple terms is something I do every day.
