About Lumi
I’m a singing tutor with over 6 years of experience and a Bachelor of Contemporary Music, majoring in Voice. I specialize in helping students prepare for auditions, competitions, and live stage performances. Whether you're aiming for a lead in a musical, a vocal competition, or simply want to build confidence, I’m here to guide you. I teach a variety of styles including Classical, Broadway, Pop-Rock, and Music Theater. My lessons focus on vocal technique—diction, range development, vocal agility, and repertoire selection tailored to your goals. I also emphasize dramatic interpretation, helping singers bring emotion and authenticity to every performance. Over the years, I’ve worked with school students, drama majors, and adults rediscovering their love for singing. Every voice is unique, and my approach helps uncover that individuality while building technical strength. For the adult beginner, the journey starts with building confidence and discovering the natural voice. We begin by exploring breath control, tone shaping, and resonance exercises to uncover their authentic vocal tone. Through carefully selected songs, we introduce genre exploration—soul, jazz, folk, or pop—helping them find styles that feel personal and expressive. Lyric analysis sheets are used to break down emotions, phrasing, and meaning, encouraging connection with the song's story. Vocal journals track progress, breakthroughs, and vocal habits, fostering mindful practice. Advanced teens benefit from deeper genre experimentation and improvisation to refine their artistic identity. We dive into more complex tone modulation, vocal agility, and dynamic control. They use DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) to record and analyze performances, promoting self-awareness and technical growth. Melody trainers help fine-tune pitch and explore harmonic layering, fueling their creativity. Both personas learn storytelling through music by embodying emotion, intent, and phrasing in each performance. Weekly sessions often include improvisation games, collaborative exercises, and reflection to unlock their musical instincts. The goal is not perfection, but authentic expression. Over time, each singer develops a voice that is not only technically strong but emotionally honest and creatively free.
