About Zihan

I am a dedicated and professional Chinese language teacher with three years of teaching experience, during which I have helped over 200 teenagers and adults improve their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. My goal is not only to teach the language, but also to build my students’ confidence so that they feel comfortable expressing themselves in Chinese in real situations. I am currently studying Education at the University of Melbourne, which gives me a strong foundation in pedagogy, lesson planning and student-centered teaching. I take my role as a tutor seriously: I prepare thoroughly for each class, set clear objectives and provide structured, step-by-step guidance. At the same time, I try to keep lessons engaging and enjoyable by integrating real-life topics, cultural insights and practical communication tasks. Professionalism and reliability are very important to me. I am punctual, well-organized and responsive to students’ needs and feedback. I always aim to create a respectful, encouraging atmosphere where students feel safe to ask questions and make mistakes. Whether you are a complete beginner or already have some background in Chinese, you can expect patient support, clear explanations and a personalized learning plan focused on your progress and long-term success.

About the lesson

My tutoring approach is practical, personalised and confidence-focused. I start by understanding each student’s goals (exam preparation, travel, work, conversation, cultural interest) and current level, then design a clear learning plan. In class, I combine structured teaching (vocabulary, grammar, characters) with plenty of speaking and listening practice, role-plays, short readings and writing tasks, so students can actually use Chinese in real situations rather than just memorise rules.

A typical lesson is 60 minutes, with 90-minute sessions available for intensive study or exam preparation. Each class follows a simple structure: quick review and warm-up, focused new content, guided practice, then a short summary and homework or self-study suggestions. I always give specific, encouraging feedback so students know exactly how to improve.

I have three years of Chinese teaching experience and have helped over 200 teenagers and adults improve their listening, speaking, reading and writing. I am currently studying Education at the University of Melbourne, which allows me to use student-centred, systematic teaching methods in my lessons.

My lessons are suitable for teenagers and adults from complete beginners to upper-intermediate learners. Whether you are just starting Chinese or trying to refine your fluency and cultural understanding, I will adapt my teaching style and materials to match your pace, interests and learning style.
