About LILIAN

Lilian Nwanyisonde Smart:

Lillian is currently a PhD research student, Global Disaster and Resilience Centre, University of Huddersfield, United Kingdom.

She has worked as a teacher and a teaching assistant in the University of Huddersfield. She is currently working as a research assistant in the same University.

She has served as a student representative for the International Office of the University as well as the Global Student Representative, Student Union.

Presently, Lilian is working on a one year project on BAME mental health for the University Student Union under the umbrella of 'Inspiring Future Leaders'. BAME students stand for the Black, Asian or a Marginalized Ethnicity among the student community, Huddersfield University This avails her the opportunity of organizing focus group discussions with BAME students, interviews and so on to understand the students and how to work with them and for them.

She has Master’s degree in International Relations, the University of York, and second Master’s degree by Research in Government and International Affairs from Durham University, all in United Kingdom.

In May, 2019, Lilian chaired a conference on Sustainable Development in the University of Huddersfield for Postgraduate research students.

She has won several awards including the Prestigious Presidential award from the Nigerian President for outstanding performances in contributing to the development of my country.

During the first year of her PhD, Lilian published two conference papers.

Lilian is hardworking, skillful, peaceful, has a sense of humour, interesting to be with, understanding, organised, have collaborative and team spirit, teachable and can teach as well.
