About Javon

¡Hola! ¿Cómo está usted? I am currently a high school Spanish teacher and have been teaching Spanish for several years now. I've traveled to Costa Rica and lived with a "Tico" family, which is what Costa Ricans call themselves. There I spoke Spanish and used the language to familiarize myself with the Ticos, travel throughout the country, and participate in protests for women's rights. I am very passionate about Spanish as well as helping others to become fluent in the language! I am energetic, knowledgeable, patient, hardworking and serious about helping people to learn Spanish.

About the lesson

I like teaching Spanish in a way that people feel confident in using it in their everyday lives. I enjoy teaching primarily through fun and hands-on activities, illustrations and games which has the power to strengthen one's Spanish speaking skills. The more fun one has in learning a language - Spanish, the easier and faster one is able to retain it.

Example of Lesson Layout

First Lesson: Begin with an assessment to determine level of Spanish
- Either an oral conversation or translating words
Second Lesson & so on: Begin with a review of material from previous lesson

Body: Introduce new topic/material, verbal & written practice, play a game that incorporates new material learned (i.e. Charades )

Closing: Call & Response or small conversation using old and new material learned

Details

I charge $40 an hour for each lesson. You can choose between 2 package deals:

The 1st package offers Spanish lessons that will expand over the course of 8 weeks (not including holidays). Within the 8 weeks you can choose to have 1 or 2 lessons per week.
- Price for 8 weeks with 1 lesson per week: $320, BUT with the 1st lesson free, the final price for the entire 8 weeks would be $280
- Price for 8 weeks with 2 lessons per week: $640, BUT with the 1st lesson free, the final price for the entire 8 weeks would be $600

The 2nd package offers Spanish lessons that will expand over the course of 14 weeks (not including holidays). Within the 14 weeks you can choose to have 1 or 2 lessons per week.
- Price for 14 weeks with 1 lesson per week: $560, BUT with the 1st lesson free, the final price for the entire 14 weeks would be $520
- Price for 14 weeks with 2 lessons per week: $1120, BUT with the 1st lesson free, the final price for the entire 14 weeks would be $1080
