About Sara

¡Hola! My name is Sara. I am from Costa Rica, but I have lived and worked in several countries over the last two decades. I have had the opportunity to teach and learn from all the amazing experiences I have lived.

It is a gift to be able to share my language and culture with students around the globe, and it is extremely fulfilling to see students make progress, and actually speak Spanish!

I am extremely organized, and have a talent for curriculum design, so that every decision I make in terms of our learning materials and activities, has a clear learning purpose, that will further your learning.

I will make sure to incorporate your interests in our lessons, so that every single time they are meaningful to you.

I look forward to meeting you soon, and starting our learning journey together!

About the lesson

Teaching has been a lifelong passion for me. I began my practice as a postgraduate student in Copenhagen over 25 years ago, and never looked back. I have completed graduate diplomas in the field from Harvard University, Goldsmiths University, and Instituto Cervantes London and have taught students of all levels across the globe. Recent teaching experiences have been as Spanish teacher at New York University, Hunter College High School in NY and ABC Global Languages.

My lessons are centered on you and your needs. We will start by clearly identifying your level, where you are now, and where you want to be, and we will design a perfect plan for you. I am a positively challenging teacher and have a deep belief in my students' capacities. My lessons are effective and never boring!

I love languages, travel, literature, writing, film, and mostly, I love seeing people learn, and being a part of that journey.

I have dedicated myself professionally to teaching Spanish as a foreign language for more than 25 years.

I possess a Bachelor's in Psychology, a Master's in Science Technology and Society and a Master's in Fine Arts in Creative Writing in Spanish from NYU.

I have completed postgraduate certificates in teaching Spanish and curricular design from Harvard University, Goldsmiths University, Instituto Cervantes London, and New York University.

My teaching methodology is student centered, and very hands on. While we work on all the language skills, I try to foster the speaking component in my lessons, as this is the skill that students tend to struggle the most with.
