About Darya

Having grown up in an international school with three languages spoken regularly around me, I perfectly master French and English, and can have conversations in Spanish. Generally speaking, I am passionate about Literature and Communication. I obtained my literary baccalaureate with honors at the International Institute of Lancy, and have not stopped learning and evolving in this passion since, including during a year at the Geneva School of Journalism.

Fascinated by scenic performance of all kinds, I practiced theater for ten years and my experience allowed me to open a theatrical performance workshop, particularly in the form of various exercises using the body and the voice. This amateur workshop quickly became a troupe of young enthusiasts eager to know the world of playwright and build up confidence on stage!

I have experience in English / French and French / English translation, as well as in interpreting, and have clients of all backgrounds, in the legal sphere and in the event industry for instance. I therefore sell my services in translation, proofreading, and rewriting if you need!

I have traveled a lot and have learned immensely from my international exchanges. Communication with the other will always be a major center of interest. With all these personal and professional experiences, I can help you boost your confidence and your self-esteem, overcome your fears when it comes to expressing yourself, and eliminate any difficulties in practicing French on a daily basis: )

Being freelance in different fields, I manage my schedule and can gladly adapt to your needs, because regular practice, passion and support are the keys to learning. I also greatly value meeting in person, although it can sometimes be complicated in these times!

About the lesson

Each student needs a different methodology. Listening to them, I value their qualities and facilities while working in a playful and tactical way their possible shortcomings.

The first part of the course inevitably takes place in the form of a discussion, in which we correct everything that needs to be corrected, and note any errors or insecurities to be sure to eliminate them! The rest depends on you ...

I prepare before each course, according to the level, adapted exercises and subjects of conversation/work. If the gaps are grammatical, but the strengths are in vocabulary, for instance, we will strengthen its development whilst working on both syntax and written practice! This allows us to prepare for different types of exams. It sounds very theoretical but, I promise I'll make all that fun !

I particularly enjoy working with children and motivating them to learn but have had the pleasure of teaching and working with people of all ages and skill sets.

If the student only wants to practice orally, we can schedule several half-hour lessons per week for example, during which discussion will be at the heart of our work! It is as much about work as it is about trust and practice.

In a professional world, it is necessary to know how to present oneself with confidence, to talk about one's interests, to know and use the news in the desired language, to appropriate the technical words of one's profession etc, which we can work on together.

I am also regularly available outside the scheduled sessions and can translate / correct / discuss with you when necessary!
