About Ludo

Well, being a Christian for over 30 years, as my relationship with Abba Father and His Beloved Son and our Savior grew, gradually I came to learn about the origin of our alphabet which might surprise you. My first exposure to Paleo-Hebrew happened during our honeymoon in 2007 and my active teaching this subject via my book and classes started in 2016. I shared these discoveries with individuals, in a classroom setting and also over the Zoom for international audiences. Learning the Paleo-Hebrew alphabet and the Gospel encoded in it will bring you deeper appreciation or understanding the original roots of the words. Just like a Hebrew poet wrote: "Reading the Bible in translation is like kissing your new bride through a veil.” Haim Nachman Bialik - (Jewish Poet, 1873-1934) It will also awaken deeper love to our Abba Father in showing His character and sacrifice and forethought how to resolve the sin problem before the creation of the Universe and our little world. You will be able to search out and check for yourself the sayings of some preachers and theologians.

Since we talk about pictographic letters, we will use pictures just like children in elementary school. We want to be creative, have also little fun, and see what connections we can find between the meaning of each letter of Paleo-Hebrew "Aleph-Beith" and our own lives. This way it will be much easier to remember their meaning. In each lesson we would study one letter, its meaning and how it fits into the big picture of the alphabet (aleph-beith) - how it unfolds amazing gospel story. The whole study would last 22 meetings - first lesson is free. In combination with this we can use Genesis chapter 1 as source for learning to read Hebrew text. I can refer you to my YouTube videos and the book and booklet I wrote about the subject. Extra bonus: Gospel in Genesis 1:1 as seen through the lenses of these pictographic letters. I like to work 1:1, thus being able to go by your speed and address your specific questions. On the other hand, small group makes the studies more interactive and challenging for all engaged.

Price per 1:1 class is $30 per meeting. If you want to form a little group of 3 people, it would be $20 per one person. If there are 4 of you, it is $15 per person. We won't make bigger group than 4 in order to give attention to each participant. Groups can be children in churches or any other friends.

  • Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

I don't speak but read Hebrew. My focus is on Paleo-Hebrew, which is unique in a sense that it uses pictographic letters, which are very rich in meaning. As a language we would call it a Biblical Hebrew which differs from today's spoken Hebrew. My focus is not so much in speaking the language as rather understanding the deeper Biblical understanding by mastering the meaning of these pictographic letters. But it doesn't mean I ignore the Biblical Hebrew using today's so-called "square" script. So each class we learn both Paleo-Hebrew and square script letters. We build a vocabulary and use the Genesis chapter 1 for observing basic grammar components.

My inspiration came from my grandpa, who was hiding a Jewis family during WWII in the Slovak State, risking the lives of our family. I learned about this right at my 40th birthday. It made a deep impression on me and awakened and eventually brought me to study this language. As a fruit of this effort I discovered the harmony of the Gospel story in the original order of the Paleo-Hebrew Alphabet and wrote a book about that.
  • Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

Well, since we know that the Paleo-Hebrew letters were used up to Babylonian captivity of Jews, we can say that most Bible writers used these letters when they penned their original manuscripts. Out of all of these I would name MOSES. People would tell you that the very first Gospel could be found in Gen 3:15. But when you understand the meaning of the Paleo-Hebrew letters you will be amazed to discover the Gospel in the very first verse of the Bible. You will love our Abba Father even more by seeing the simplicity and beauty of His Message.
  • Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behaviour in the language that you particularly like?

Let me briefly share just one word: Av. Av in today' Hebrew אב has two meanings: Abba Father and Aleph-Beith - the Alphabet. In Paleo-Hebrew this word is made of two pictures, let me use emoticons:
🎪🐂 - OX and TENT. Ox, the Aleph, refers to the strength, in our context, the strength of the Almighty. Tent, the Beith, refers to a shelter over the family living in. Now you learned the most important word in the world: Av or Abba - the FATHER is the One who cares for his family.
  • Why does speaking this language matter to you?

Not so much speaking as rather understanding this language. Why? Because this is the closest to hear our Abba Father talking to us. Maybe you heard the expression: every Bible translation is also an interpretation. It depends on the translator's theology and understanding.
  • What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

Well, Hebrew uses completely different letters, whether you want to learn today's Hebrew Alphabet or the Paleo-Hebrew. It takes time to get used to both. Good news is that there are only 22 letters.
We also need to master at least the basics of Hebrew grammar. If we really want to speak this language or even understand the Biblical text in its original form, it takes TIMES. So person needs to have a good reason, motivation to be perseverant and not give up. But this is true for learning piano or any new skill.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

This won't be an anecdote but a poem, which has a little humor in it: "Reading the Bible in a translation is like kissing your new bride through a veil."
  • How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

Oh, you touched my inner soul 🙂 My dream is to come to Israel and to be surrounded by no other language but Hebrew in order to learn this language much faster. If you have ever a chance to be in a country where they speak the language you desire to learn, that would be the best way to pick it up.
  • What makes you a Superprof in language?

As far as I know on Superprof I am at the moment the only one teaching this ancient language. 🙂 But there are many others beside me teaching it on other platforms. I am delighted to see growing interest in this subject.
