About Georgina

I am an undergraduate historian at Oxford University, predicted a 1st, but also achieved an A* at English A-Level. I 11 grade 9s at GCSE - including both English Literature and Language.

I have edited school magazines, taking part in debating competitions, completed a recent internship in blog-writing (at FabLittleBag), and have also been on the judging panel for creative writing competitions.

I am currently tutoring with Jacari, teaching English as an additional language to refugee and migrant children. Over the years, I have helped to tutor friends and family, and have worked in schools including many special needs schools, a primary school, and a prep school.

I love reading, and I also enjoying writing poetry in my free time. I love the subject that I teach, but also have a strong knowledge of it - hopefully an effective combination!

About the lesson

I teach in a friendly, approachable way and most importantly, I will tailor my teaching style to the student and their own strengths and weaknesses. For many, this will be focused on exam technique and developing the confidence to write well and with assurance, and I can target this particularly through essay plans and then developing these into full answers. Equally, if your needs are more content based, I have studied a variety of texts so can simply focus on cementing a solid understanding of the text itself, as well as the context in which it sits, both of which feed into the ability to write well and with assurance. Alongside this, although I believe that confidence and good technique are indeed one of the keys to exam success, I hope to be able to encourage a greater appreciation of literature and reading in general, which can never be a bad thing! I also hope that, by being a student myself, I am able to achieve the necessary balance of lessons being fun but also academically rewarding.

Latin was probably my weakest gcse subject but Georgina realky helped me and in the end I defied all my teachers expectations and got an 8! Her approach was super accommodating and she tailored her tutoring to my ability to ensure that I got the result I wanted! Would recommend to anyone struggling with latin - she’s a lifesaver.
