About Adélaïde
I have just completed my second year at the University of Oxford where I study for a 4-year MEng course in General Engineering. After getting 12 grade 9s at GCSE, I studied Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry A-levels and achieved 4A*s (with 100% and 99% in chemistry papers 1 and 2). I was also awarded the school’s sixth form science scholarship as well as an art scholarship from year 7 to sixth form. I am confident of the knowledge and understanding expected from students to aim for high outcomes across the range of scientific subjects. I will share the techniques and revision skills which enabled me to succeed in exams as well as gaining a place at Oxbridge. I offer my services for tutoring GCSE and A-level Maths, Physics and Chemistry, having had several years of experience helping younger students through a mentoring scheme, and as an online tutor for a charitable organisation. Help with preparing and writing personal statements for Engineering Oxbridge Admissions is also something I do.

It gives me joy to see my students ‘click’ with a topic they had been struggling with and progress with their understanding. My approach is one which aims to prioritise understanding of the foundations in parallel with practice to effectively learn to apply knowledge whilst also grasping a sense of what is required by the exam board. People generally describe me as patient and a perfectionist, which ensures in-depth breakdown of the topic or problem at hand and no brushing over details. My artistic background and creativity enable me to find new ways of illustrating concepts to students, especially if they didn’t understand something initially. Since no two students are the same, this enables me to think of tailored explanations for each individual.

Adélaïde was an excellent Physics tutor. She explained concepts clearly and took the time to make sure I really understood the material. Her sessions were well-structured and supportive, and I always left feeling confident in my abilities. She helped me approach problems more methodically and made a real difference to my understanding- I’d highly recommend her.
Adelaide helped me all the way through year 11 and I ended up getting a 9 in gcse maths and further maths. Before each lesson she would ask me what I wanted to focus on so she could prepare for it, which made each lesson very effective. She would start by making sure I had understood and learnt the topic, before moving on to practicing targetted questions she had selected beforehand. I did past papers independantly and we would go over the questions I got wrong or did not understand well. I really like her structured approach, clear explanations and revision tips. She has continued helping me in Year 12 with my A level maths whenever I needed help.
Whenever I have a question or trouble with a topic, I drop Adelaide a text and she quickly comes back with a clear explanation usually with some working aswell which helps me understand it. She really does care and doesn’t leave anything out.
Adelaide started tutoring me last year for maths and physics A levels. I don’t have the results yet but my marks significantly improved since she started helping me. Compared to some of the other tutors I’ve had, she sounded extremely dedicated, always wanting to bring the best in me. It almost sounded she felt responsible for my grades... She is very thorough, methodical and patient in her approach. She also shared some precious practical tips that really helped with understanding/memorising the curriculum and exam prep. I recommend her highly!
