About Jamie

Hi! I'm Jamie and I'm currently a 3rd year studying Classics at Trinity College, Oxford University. I've tutored for over 5 years, totalling hundreds of hours, both online and in-person. I've taught Latin, Ancient Greek, Classical Civilisation, Ancient History, as well as Maths, Further Maths and Sciences. I've had a vast amount of experience tutoring students from the 11+/13+ and GCSE all the way up until A-Level and University Admission, with many of my former students going on to prestigious universities such as Oxford, Cambridge and LSE. I've taught a wide range of age groups and abilities, and always ensure the lesson is tailored to the specific needs of the student.

My qualifications:
- Oxford University Undergraduate Degree
- 4 A*s at A-Levels in Further Maths, Maths, Latin and Ancient Greek
- Straight 9s at GCSEs and Academic Scholarship

My tutoring experience:
- Hundreds of hours of tutoring experience both online and in-person across 11+/13+, GCSE, A-Level and University admission.
- Helped students go on to prestigious universities such as Oxford, Cambridge and LSE.
- Taught Latin in-person to Secondary School students at local Oxfordshire schools, who had never studied the subject before.
- Taught abroad in countries such as Indonesia.

About the lesson

Maths can be challenging – but with the right approach, it becomes one of the most rewarding subjects to master. My lessons in Maths and Further Maths are focused on building deep understanding and problem-solving confidence, whether you're working towards GCSEs, A-Levels, or entrance exams. Having achieved A*s in both subjects at A-Level, I know what it takes to succeed. My sessions are structured around clarity and logic – breaking down complex ideas into manageable steps, and ensuring students understand the “why” as well as the “how.” From core concepts to trickier topics like complex numbers or proof by induction, I’ll guide you through with patience and precision. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s needs, with regular revision and past paper practice integrated into the schedule. We’ll identify weaker areas, tackle exam technique, and develop the habits that lead to consistent top performance. Whether you're aiming for a grade boost, tackling Further Maths for the first time, or preparing for university-level study, I’m here to help you reach your goals – and maybe even start enjoying the subject along the way.

Jamie helped me with Oxbridge preparation for Classics. Across our sessions, he helped me completely rewrite my Personal Statement taking it from basic to showcasing everything I wanted to.
