About Ruqaiya

I’m an Oxford graduate and full scholarship recipient, with 4 years of experience in the human rights and humanitarian sectors across Lebanon, India, and the UK. Alongside my professional work, I run my own mentorship practice, guiding students through university and scholarship applications, personal statements, CVs, and academic writing. I can teach in Hindi and Urdu too. You can find me on LinkedIn! Mentored 10 students in the last 2 years to secure offers from Cambridge, LSE, SOAS, and other top universities across Europe and the UK. I bring a trauma-informed, inclusive approach to mentorship — with a focus on improving access for neurodivergent students, BAME communities, and gender minorities. I work with both STEM and social science students, providing structured, honest, and personalised feedback to help them present their best academic and professional selves. About the lesson

My mentorship approach is built on intention, structure, and reflection — helping you not just write stronger applications but truly understand how to pitch your story with confidence. Each lesson is personalised based on your goals, whether that’s improving your personal statement or structuring your academic essays. I don’t hand you ready-made answers — I guide you through reflective questioning and detailed feedback.

Mentorship Structure:
1. Introductory session (60 mins): We discuss your academic background, goals, target universities/internships or jobs, and identify your unique value proposition.
2. Follow-up sessions (60 mins): Focused on one key component at a time — SOP, CV, or writing sample — with word-by-word feedback and strategy guidance.
3. Written feedback (30 mins): Provide written feedback on your drafts to help you reflect further in your own time.

Bonus support:
4. Between sessions, I send preparation notes or guiding questions to help you reflect and revise.
5. Accountability support: Be your partner in cultivating self-discipline and setting mini-action steps to get to your goal.
