About Benjamin

Until returning from Egypt last summer, I spent the past six years tutoring the children of very high and ultra-high net worth families in Cairo. This was mainly for the International Baccalaureate but also to iGCSE candidates, as well as A' level students and the American Diploma and also Btec. My students were from the most prestigious international schools in Cairo but generally wanted the edge that I could offer for moving on to top universities.
The subjects that I tutor to IB and A'Level standard are English Literature, English Language & Literature and Theory of Knowledge (a core component of the IB Diploma course.) I have also helped to guide and assist students with a range of extended essays for IB, including in English Literature, Business Studies and History. I have also assisted several of my IB students over later years when they have been at university, tutoring in subjects from Business Management to Philosophy. As for iGCSE, as well as English Language and Literature I've tutored other subjects, such as History, Latin and Media Studies.
I have very extensive experience with assisting students making applications to top universities in the United Kingdom and the US. I have been able to help craft application essays and personal statements that have got many of my students into the most prestigious global universities, and given assistance with interview preparation for prospective students, for successful Oxbridge applications and to other top universities.

About the lesson

I'm an English language and literature teacher of nearly a decade who has helped students of from 11+ through to undergraduate level achieve increased expertise and confidence in the finer points of the English language while also guiding them through the rich and diverse world of English literary masterpieces.
Having worked as a writer and sub-editor in the newspaper industry for many years, I have a sensitivity for grammar, syntax, and the nuances of English that means I can help students master the finer points of the language, ensuring their writing and speaking are not only correct but also polished.
I adapt my teaching methods to fit each student's unique learning style, and they typically see tangible improvements within a very short time.
As well as GCSE, IGCSE and A-level, I have deep experience of tutoring students for the International Baccalaureate, including assisting with Extended Essays across a range of subjects and the IB Theory of Knowledge1 essay and exhibition.
