About Lena

Hi, my name is Lena, and I am a native French speaker. I was born in Lorient, Brittany, which is situated in the northwest of France. I have been a French tutor for the past 9 years, teaching all levels and ages both online and in person.

Through my studies (B.A. in English Linguistics and M.A. in British Media) and professional experience, I have acquired expertise in French and English linguistics. This has enabled me to teach children, university students, and adults in the most effective way, with proven results.

About the lesson

I teach French using online video chat platforms such as Zoom and Skype. Additionally, I use the collaborative app Google Docs as a virtual whiteboard, which allows both the student and me to edit the document live during the lessons. This approach effectively engages the student despite being behind a screen and helps ensure they complete their homework, as I usually check it before the next lesson. I always tailor the workload to suit each student's preferences.

Teaching online requires a lot of creativity, which is a key aspect for me because every student is unique and deserves personalised lessons. I base my lessons on the four fundamental language skills: reading, speaking, listening, and writing. Emphasis is placed on conversation, as it combines both speaking and listening practice. Reading and writing are typically assigned as homework exercises.

For me, the three most important teaching tools are creativity, personalisation, and fun!
