About Westley
I'm a final-year Biological Sciences student at the University of Edinburgh (specialising in Development, Regeneration and Stem Cells), with a year abroad at UC Santa Cruz. I offer online tutoring in GCSE Sciences and Maths, as well as A Level Biology.
I achieved A*s in Biology, Physics, Maths at A Level and an A in Chemistry, along with 9s in the sciences and maths at GCSE, so I can help students with both learning content and exam-technique skills. Since October 2024, I've delivered over 250 hours of online tutoring, and every one of my students has hit or exceeded their predicted grade. I tailor lessons using past paper questions, exam-specific notes, CGP guides and my own materials, and teach through Google Meets, Google Docs and the Miro online whiteboard for an interactive, easy-to-follow experience.
Beyond tutoring, I've worked as a teaching assistant at a children's summer science camp and spent a research placement in a microbiology lab at UC Santa Cruz - experience that's sharpened both my communication skills and my grasp of the sciences I teach.

My approach focuses on genuine understanding rather than brute memorisation — learning key definitions and concepts, knowing where and how to apply them, and seeing how topics connect so they stick long-term. I find it very important to keep lessons active with practice questions and whiteboard work, and to let students focus on the topics they're finding hardest or currently covering in class, since encouraging curiosity and students’ agency goes a long way toward better engagement and results.
