About Zinny

I am a Year 13 student currently studying A-level English Literature and have previous experience tutoring GCSE English. Through this I have seen how often students understand the content but are unsure how to structure their ideas to gain marks, which is the main area I aim to improve.

I achieved strong GCSE results across core subjects, including English Language, English Literature and Maths, and am predicted A*A*A at A-level. Having recently worked through the same courses and exam boards, I am familiar with what examiners are looking for and how to explain this clearly.

Alongside my studies I am the head coach for an under-13 boys’ rugby team, so I am used to working responsibly with young people, communicating clearly and building confidence in a supportive environment. I tutor because I enjoy helping students realise improvement comes from clear method rather than natural talent.

About the lesson

I am a current A-level English Literature student offering online support for GCSE English Language and Literature.

My lessons focus on the areas students most often struggle with: understanding what exam questions are really asking, structuring paragraphs clearly, and explaining ideas without overcomplicating them. I aim to make English feel logical rather than vague, so students know exactly how to gain marks rather than guessing what sounds “good”.

A typical lesson lasts one hour and is tailored to the student. We usually begin with a short recap, then work through either a text, exam question, or a piece of the student’s own writing. I give clear step-by-step methods for planning and writing answers, and students leave with practical strategies they can use independently in school and exams.

Through working with young people in rugby coaching, I am patient and encouraging, and I understand that confidence is often the biggest barrier in English. My aim is to reduce stress around the subject and help students feel more certain about what they are doing.

These lessons are suitable for KS3 and GCSE students, particularly those who understand the content but lose marks in written answers or struggle to organise their ideas under timed conditions.
