About Zainab

Hi
I am a software engineering student currently completing my foundation year.
My academic journey has not been perfect. After achieving great GCSEs in maths, English literature, English language, combined science, Spanish, citizenship and history. I had a tough time in my A-levels, the jump in difficulty was massive, my study habits were not consistent, and I did not get the final grades I needed for my firm choice for university.
I am using this setback as a learning experience, I know what it is like to struggle and lose confidence when trying to get the right system/plan in place for the final exams.
I teach with evidence-based techniques to improve study habits for example the fastest way to master a concept is to teach it to someone else so at the end of the lesson I ask the student to explain the concept they have learned which reveals hidden gaps in their understanding.

About the lesson

My qualifications and experience as a tutor:
I am a software engineering student currently in my foundation year at Salford. I offer engaging online tutoring for KS3 and GCSE maths and science.
AQA combined science grade 8-8
GCSE maths grade 7
AS level 3 mathematical studies grade C
Current degree: BSc software engineering (foundation year)
Who are the lessons for?
GCSE combined science (Year 10 & 11)
Covering Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, foundation and higher tiers, ideal for students wanting to push up their grades to a grade 7-7 or 8-8.
GCSE foundation maths (Year 10 & 11)
For students aiming to master core numeracy and secure a strong grade 5.
Key stage 3 Maths and Science (Years 7, 8, 9)
Helping younger students build total confidence, study habits and solid foundations before they start their GCSE courses.
Techniques and teaching methodology
I do not believe in passive learning like just reading from a textbook so instead I use evidence-based strategies to ensure content is retained in the long-term memory for exam day
Educational research shows the best way to strengthen memory is by forcing the brain to recall information so every lesson begins with 3 questions covering topics from the previous lessons.
Typical length of a lesson is 60 minutes
