About Zijian
I am a Financial Engineering graduate from NYU with a strong passion for mathematics and problem-solving. During my studies, I developed a solid foundation in mathematics, statistics and quantitative subjects. I also spent one year volunteering as a high school maths teacher in the US, which gave me valuable experience working with students and explaining difficult concepts in a simple and understandable way.
I enjoy helping students build confidence in mathematics and discover that challenging problems can become much easier with the right approach. I am patient, approachable and committed to adapting my teaching to each student’s needs and learning style.

I tailor each lesson to the student’s current level and learning goals. I focus on building a clear understanding of concepts and developing problem-solving skills, rather than simply memorising formulae.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes and includes explanation, guided practice and independent problem-solving. I am happy to work through school materials, homework or specific topics that the student finds challenging.
Lessons are suitable for school and university students who want to improve their mathematics, strengthen their fundamentals or prepare for exams. I offer both online and in-person lessons in Belfast.
