About Sean
Hi! I’m a 19-year-old college student majoring in nursing and planning to attend medical school. I recently completed an accelerated math program that included AP Calculus and AP Statistics, so I’m very familiar with algebra concepts and how they’re taught today. Because I went through these courses not long ago, I understand the challenges students face and can explain material in a clear, relatable way. My goal is to make math feel less intimidating and more approachable. I specialize in tutoring Algebra 1 and Elementary Algebra, with a strong focus on homework help and test preparation. I have a year of private one-on-one tutoring experience and work with students to break down problems step by step. Whether you’re preparing for a quiz, studying for an exam, or trying to keep up with daily assignments, I adapt my teaching style to fit your needs. I emphasize understanding the process, not just memorizing formulas. I create a patient, supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace. My lessons are structured, supportive, and tailored to each student’s needs. At the start of each session, we identify what you’re working on—whether it’s homework, upcoming tests, or specific concepts that feel confusing. I break down algebra topics step by step and explain them in a way that’s easy to understand, using examples similar to what you’ll see in class. Because I recently completed these same courses, I’m familiar with common problem types and teaching styles used in schools today.
I focus heavily on homework support and test preparation. During lessons, we review assignments together, work through problems in real time, and address any gaps in understanding. For test prep, I help students review key concepts, practice problem-solving strategies, and learn how to approach questions with confidence. I also teach students how to organize their work and avoid common mistakes.
My teaching style is patient and encouraging, and I adjust the pace based on the student’s comfort level. I believe mistakes are part of learning, and I create a space where students feel comfortable asking questions. My goal is not just to help students complete their work, but to help them understand the material and feel more confident moving forward.
