Native Texan, New York Transplant. I am a graduate student studying creative nonfiction writing with over 15 years of experience in the creative arts. My work has been featured in The New York Times, Interview Magazine, USA Today, and many others. I currently teach composition and nonfiction writing to undergraduate students in New York City.

I'm a graduate student and educator with over 15 years of experience teaching students between the ages of 5 and 55. My lessons are based on backward design: Beginning with the end goal for each student in mind. Are you working on an academic paper? Learning to construct a thesis statement? Nail your college admittance essay?
Regardless, I have done and taught it all. My students walk away with a firm understanding of how to construct a strong, well organized paper or creative essay from the blank page, and a formula for reconstructing it with every single assignment.
