About Emma
My name is Emma and I am a senior in college studying neuroscience. Science and math did not always come easy to me in middle school, but I worked hard and over time they started to make more sense. Now, math and science are my favorite subjects and led me to begin research in neuroscience! I started tutoring to give others the opportunity to fall in love with math and science the way I did, and now I work to continue achieving that goal.

In middle school, I was a very humanities-oriented student and had a lot of trouble with math. I learned to train my brain to think in a more STEM-oriented manner in high school, achieving all As or A+s in my honors/AP math courses and am now currently a STEM major studying neuroscience! As a result, I know what it is like to approach a subject when it does not come naturally and am proof that you can still be successful! I like to break down the concepts for students so they understand first the "why" behind the math. This helps in the critical thinking involved with a new problem. I also like to give students plenty of practice and steps to consider in different types of problems they are likely to encounter, as this helps them feel prepared for their exams or assignments.
