My family and I have been taking Portuguese lessons with Ines for five months now. I began with zero experience with the language, after my family had decided to move to the Lisbon area. Taking weekly lessons with Ines has helped me build the confidence to practice speaking Portuguese with my neighbors and my partner’s family here.

As a former Special Education teacher, I have been consistently impressed with how well Ines adapts to each family member’s interests, skills, and learning styles. Everyone in my family has some form of neurodivergence, and Ines tailors each of our lessons to our individual needs. Her teaching style is warm and collaborative. I am never afraid to ask a question or make a mistake in class. Ines uses evidence-based language learning strategies such as integrating music and high-interest media to teach listening comprehension. In addition to excellently planned lessons, Ines creates and shares personalized study aid materials each week to reinforce learning. All three members of my family have made measurable gains in our ability to communicate in both written and spoken Portuguese; I highly recommend Ines as a tutor.

Inès is a fabulous teacher and I wouldn’t think twice before recommending her to anyone. She listens to the needs, interests, and goals of each of her students and prepares tailor-suit classes. As a result, your commitment and involvement with the classes are so intense that you’ll be amazed at the speed of your learning experience and your ability to fully express yourself in French. Plus, she’s savvy, super cool, filled with insightful information so you can deepen your studies, and very attentive and sensitive to the student’s pace and needs. She opened up a whole new world for me in 2024 and now I can read anything in French (from Le Monde to Vogue FR. Books from France’s most renowned philosophers: S Bouvoir, Sartre, Camus; essays on neuroscience, Law, psychoanalysis). I have many playlists with my most adored French singers and bands, I listen to various podcasts in French (many of which were recommended by Inès), I understand the song's lyrics just by listening to them, I understand most of what is said in the movies, I watch the news and various interviews in French (without translation) and I can express myself in French with growing confidence and an ever-growing vocabulary. I just wouldn’t recommend anyone else other than Inès to teach French. She’s amazing!
