Native Swiss French certified teacher with 20 years of experience, friendly lessons for kids, teens and adults in San Francisco

Carine worked with my son Joshua on French for 6 months. She followed his interests and made French part of play, from books and games to time at the playground. Joshua had a lot of fun, grew comfortable listening to French, and also speaking some words on his own. I appreciated her detailed updates about what he was learning and would happily recommend her.

Carine has been an incredible French tutor! We started working together earlier this year when I set a goal to learn French, and she’s been absolutely instrumental in helping me stay consistent and motivated.

What I appreciate most is how she balances structure with flexibility. Some sessions are focused on building vocabulary, while others dive into cultural topics, so I feel like I’m not just learning the language, but actually understanding how it’s lived and spoken.

One of my favorite parts of our lessons is an exercise where we describe what’s happening in a picture. It’s such a fun and effective way to practice thinking and speaking in French in a natural way.

I would absolutely recommend Carine to anyone looking for a thoughtful and engaging tutor. She is the BEST!

Our experience has been exceptional. Teaching a 3.5-year-old requires a special kind of creativity and patience, and Carine truly excels at both. She makes each lesson fun and engaging through songs, cooking, and interactive activities, all while building a strong foundation in the language. Our son is not only learning French, but also developing a genuine love for it. We’ve seen such wonderful progress in a short time. We’re incredibly grateful for Carine’s dedication and highly recommend her to any family with young children

Carine often works with stories in her French lessons, both reading them and encouraging students to tell their own. This makes learning French feel more natural and engaging, especially for children.
Reading stories helps students pick up vocabulary and structure, while telling stories gives them the confidence to actually use the language. Carine guides this gently, without interrupting too much, so students stay focused on meaning rather than mistakes.
It’s an approach that helps French stick and makes speaking feel easier and more enjoyable over time.

I find this way of teaching really interesting, during my schooling I find it a shame that dialogue was not essential for students, you first had to know the theory but it is not in this way that you learn a language quickly. It's really the fact of talking with people and exchanging our anecdotes that makes us learn, thank you Carine

Carine explains French in a very clear and simple way. She has a talent for breaking down rules so they make sense and are easy to remember, without turning lessons into heavy grammar sessions.

What I really appreciate is that she focuses on what’s useful. Instead of overwhelming students, she gives simple explanations that help things click and stay with you.

Her lessons feel calm and well paced, and learning French with her feels approachable rather than intimidating.

Carine has a very natural way of teaching French to kids. She’s patient, attentive, and knows how to adjust to each child’s personality and level without making things feel forced.

What I appreciate most is how relaxed her lessons are while still being effective. Children are encouraged to speak, try, and make mistakes without pressure. She keeps them engaged and focused, and progress happens naturally over time.

She’s clearly experienced, well organized, and takes her role as a teacher seriously. I would confidently recommend her to families looking for a reliable and thoughtful French teacher for their children.

I’ve seen how Carine teaches French with children and teenagers. She’s a native French speaker from Switzerland and a certified teacher, but what really stands out is how comfortable and natural she is with kids.

She creates a fun, hands-on environment where children feel safe speaking and aren’t afraid to make mistakes. She adapts easily to different ages and personalities, and her lessons feel engaging without being rigid or overly academic.

She has a real ability to connect with children and help them progress with confidence. I would highly recommend her to families looking for a supportive, thoughtful, and experienced French teacher for their children.
