Hello, I am a multilingual person with a wide range of interests and empathy.
- My language skills and teaching experience:
My mother tongues are Mandarin and Shanghainese. I can speak daily Japanese and have learned some French and Russian. If your mother tongue is among these three, it will be excellent for me to provide accelerated help for your Mandarin study.
Nevertheless, I am familiar with European and Asian history, culture and philosophy. I have talents in explaining Chinese idioms and vocabulary. I can ease your understanding of the so-called Obscure Eastern Philosophy, which is inevitably essential for Mandarin language students.
- My Educational background:
I moved to study and live in Canada eight years ago. I received my university degree in Public-Relation at Donghua University, Shanghai. I made Russian and French friends after moving to Toronto and volunteered to tutor them to learn Mandarin. I voluntarily met with students enrolled in Mandarin programs at OISE cafe weekly to provide advice in learning Mandarin idioms and allusions. I cultivated my enthusiasm to learn introductory French and Russian at OISE since then. Interest is the first motivation for learning. Motivation from others is sometimes necessary, and it is the same for you, my friend.
I was an oral-translation volunteer serving visiting teachers and students from Japan and the U.S. for three years in high school. I received a 99/100 from the Mandarin proficiency test at my university. I made a lecture in front of my university about theology and religious history, with the topic “What exactly do you believe?”. After moving to Toronto, I participated in the volunteer project of Mandarin text recording in 2017 winter with a professor in the Mandarin Department at OISE. After that, I had five years of experience facilitating weekly lectures and activities online. I am very familiar with e-tutoring.

About the lesson

I can speak daily Japanese and have learned some French and Russian. If your mother tongue is among these three, it will be excellent for me to provide accelerated help for your Mandarin study. My style of teaching is to have initiative conversations, including storytelling and role-playing. We can use any e-tutoring platform at your favourite to chat. Furthermore, If the epidemic is relieved to the permissive extent, I can also reach any cafe or library group-study room about 50 kilometres away from downtown Toronto.
