About Irene

I am a native Spanish speaker from Spain, currently living and working in Birmingham as a Spanish Language Assistant in a secondary school. This has given me first-hand experience of the UK education system and of the specific difficulties English-speaking students often face when learning Spanish.

I hold a Master’s degree in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE) from the University of Barcelona, as well as a degree in Hispanic Studies. Alongside my school experience, I have taught Spanish privately to teenagers and adults with different levels and goals, including general Spanish, conversation, grammar, literacy skills and exam preparation.

I am patient, organised and approachable, and I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I aim to create a supportive but structured environment where students can build confidence while making clear progress.

Whether you are preparing for GCSE or A-Level, improving your Spanish for university or work, or simply learning for personal interest, I will adapt the lessons to your level and objectives.

About the lesson

My lessons are practical, personalised and focused on helping students use Spanish with confidence. I adapt each class to the student’s level, goals and learning style, combining clear grammar explanations with conversation, pronunciation, vocabulary, reading and writing.

I use a communicative approach, so students are encouraged to actively use Spanish from the beginning. Depending on the learner, lessons can include guided conversation, role plays, short texts, listening activities, grammar practice, exam-style tasks and personalised feedback. I also pay particular attention to common difficulties English-speaking students have when learning Spanish.

A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, although I can adapt the format depending on the student’s needs.

I am a native Spanish speaker with a Master’s degree in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE) and a degree in Hispanic Studies. I currently work as a Spanish Language Assistant in a secondary school in Birmingham, which has given me direct experience of the UK school system and of supporting British students with their Spanish. I also have experience teaching Spanish privately to teenagers and adults, including conversation, grammar, literacy skills and exam preparation.

My lessons are suitable for secondary school students, including GCSE and A-Level learners, as well as university students and adults who want to improve their Spanish for study, work, travel or personal interest. I can work with beginners as well as more advanced learners, always adapting the lesson to the student’s objectives.
