About Mariley

My name is Mariley, and I am a native Spanish speaker with a passion for helping others master the beauty and complexity of the Spanish language. Currently a Political Science student at Hunter College, I balance a rigorous academic schedule with a commitment to clear, effective communication. My background in high-level coursework has equipped me with a deep understanding of grammar, syntax, and formal writing, skills I bring directly to our tutoring sessions to ensure you are learning Spanish that is both authentic and technically correct.

About the lesson

I believe that language is a tool for connection, not just a list of rules to memorize. My method follows the "Natural Acquisition" approach, where we focus on high-frequency vocabulary and real-world scenarios.

I aim for students to speak in Spanish for 70% of the lesson. I also use images, news articles, and short clips to create context so you aren't just translating words in your head. Instead of dry drills, I teach grammar through storytelling and active conversation.

As a native speaker and current college student, I bring a unique blend of cultural authenticity and academic discipline. I understand the nuances of different dialects and can teach you how people actually speak, while also being able to help you navigate complex essay writing or professional terminology.
