About Valeria

I am a native Spanish speaker fluent in English and other languages with proven experience as a Spanish tutor both in-person and online. My academic qualifications include a PhD (DPhil) in Archaeology and Art from the University of Oxford and two master’s degrees in Art History (an MA in Comparative Art and Archaeology from University College London, and an MPhil in Theory and History of Art from Universidad de Chile. For my BA, I specialized in Philosophy and Classics). Before moving to the USA, I was a Wiener-Anspach Research Fellow at the Centre de Recherches en Archéologie et Patrimoine (CReA-Patrimoine), Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium. Apart from my research, I work as a college instructor of History of Art, Anthropology, and Visual Communication; but teaching the Spanish language and Hispanic culture has also been my passion throughout these years. I have experience teaching Spanish both in-person and online, while I have also helped students prepare for exams, and edit papers and presentations.

About the lesson

My lessons are dynamic and fun. Usually, we will look into the lesson's grammar and vocabulary and then we will engage in active conversation to make the most of your learning time. Also, I will give you tips to keep improving your Spanish in between our lessons. The idea is that you get familiar with the language on a daily basis so that you can build up your speaking confidence.
I am happy to tailor my lessons to my students’ requests (e.g., Spanish conversation, Spanish language and Latin American culture, literature, Spanish for travel, etc.). Feel free to reach out to me if you would like to schedule a free trial class.
