About Alberto

Why me? I’m a native Spanish speaker born and raised in Argentina/Uruguay. I have a Bachelor’s in Communication Science with a concentration in Education and Linguistics from the University of Buenos Aires. I’ve been teaching in classrooms and providing 1 on 1 tutoring classes for 8 years. I’ve had the privilege to help students from diverse cultural, age (5-80), economic and social backgrounds (I’m LGBTQ+ friendly). I’ve taken several courses on literary writing, including two with the amazing Argentinian author Liliana Bodoc. I studied with a vocal coach for 10 years so I’ve developed a deep understanding of the vocal apparatus that is particularly useful when working on accents. I've always found foreign languages and cultures fascinating which has led me to move abroad and to live in the US for 5 years. Apart from this I’m interested in dog training, music, health science, fitness and gaming, which I’m always happy to talk about.

About the lesson

How we’ll do this:

I’ve found that the best way to learn a new language is to be as immersed in it as possible. Stories, videos, games, (and videogames ;) ) songs, poems, etc. are great entranceways. It’s quite amazing to see how cherished parts of your life expand into new territories just because they can now be experienced in a different language. Your life becomes richer, opportunities are created and horizons broaden. These are some of the things I love about teaching Spanish and the idea is to help you get beyond just classroom or academic Spanish. On top of immersion, fun is another key component to learning a new language. That’s why I prefer to cater my classes to my student’s interests. Last but not least, adapting to the needs and life of my students is crucial so learning can happen at a comfortable pace. The idea is not just to learn Spanish, but to use it. I’ve particularly enjoyed working with students who have had trouble with the language and feel that they can’t learn it. I believe a knowledgeable, efficient, and patient guide can help you achieve your goals.

What I offer:

One-on-one, semi-privates (groups up to 6 students), online and in-person classes specializing in Spanish conversation. All classes are customized to the student's needs and include conversation, grammar, writing focusing on practical instruction. All of this is based on the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach. I can teach anything from beginner Spanish to conversational levels, teach you verb conjugations, vocabulary, and good pronunciation in a way that you'll learn quickly either because you´re preparing for a test or for a trip.

Perfect! Alberto has exceeded any any all expectations. He found ways to get my children to engage with the Spanish learning process. From hunting bugs in the backyard in to playing video games, he taught my children Spanish in a way that made them want to learn.
