About Elena

I’ve always believed that one of the most important things we can learn is how to communicate with other people.

For me, learning and growing are deeply connected to words, communication and relationships. Being able to express what we think, feel and need — and being able to understand someone else — can completely change the way we connect with the world around us.

That is one of the reasons I love languages. A language is much more than vocabulary and grammar. It gives you access to people, cultures, experiences and ways of seeing the world that you might otherwise never discover.

I have also experienced what it means to learn a language from scratch, so I know that it can be challenging to find the confidence to actually speak. But I also know how rewarding it is when you finally start being able to communicate and connect with people in a different language.

I would love to help other people experience that feeling.

If I can give you the tools, confidence and opportunity to improve your Spanish, express yourself more freely, meet people from different backgrounds and connect with others through language, I don’t want to miss that opportunity.

So, whether you want to learn Spanish for travel, work, relationships, curiosity or simply because you want to challenge yourself, I’d be happy to be part of the process.

About the lesson

I’m a native Spanish speaker from Spain and a qualified lawyer, currently living in Auckland.

But more importantly, I know what it feels like to learn a language from scratch, so I understand how difficult it can be to move from understanding a language to actually feeling confident speaking it.

My approach is simple: you learn a language by using it.

Rather than spending the whole lesson following a textbook, I focus on conversation and real-life situations. We can talk about your day, your interests, travel, work, food, culture, relationships, food, current topics or anything that makes Spanish relevant to you. . I will adapt the conversation and activities to your level, gradually introducing new vocabulary, expressions and grammar as we go.

Depending on your goals, we can also organise different activities or meet-ups where you can practise Spanish in a more natural environment. The idea is to gradually move Spanish from something you study to something you actually use.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes, but I can adapt the format depending on your needs and goals.

My lessons are suitable for beginners, intermediate and advanced learners, and for both adults and teenagers. Whether you are starting from zero, already understand Spanish but struggle to speak, or simply want to become more fluent and confident, we can adapt the lessons to you.

My goal is not for you to speak perfect Spanish from day one. It is to help you start speaking, get comfortable making mistakes and build the habit of using Spanish in your everyday life.
