About Dalia

Privet! I’m Dalia, a native Russian speaker fluent in English. I was born and raised in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where Russian was a state language at the time. Russian is my mother tongue, and I completed both my school and university education entirely in Russian.

I have many years of teaching experience at the Institute of Diplomacy in Tashkent and the Institute of Cultural and Scientific Studies in Dubai. I also continue to provide private lessons to children and adults in the United States.

I enjoy working with students of different ages and backgrounds and helping each person find an approach to learning that works for them.

For me, teaching Russian is an opportunity to share the language and culture I grew up with, while learning about your language and culture along the way. After all, learning from each other is part of what makes the experience so enjoyable!

About the lesson

# About My Lessons

To fully understand and appreciate the richness of the Russian language, culture, and literature—from Pushkin to Tolstoy and Dostoevsky—I believe it takes more than memorizing vocabulary and grammar rules. You also need to understand how Russians speak in everyday life: their expressions, idioms, humor, and the cultural meanings behind their words.

That’s why my lessons focus on Russian you can actually use. We’ll practice real conversations, explore everyday expressions, and learn how to communicate naturally in situations such as meeting new people, traveling, shopping, or talking with friends and family.

What can you expect from a lesson with me?

We’ll begin with a friendly conversation or a quick review of what you’ve already learned. Then we’ll explore a new topic through practical examples, visual materials, and real-life situations. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to use what you learn through guided conversations, speaking exercises, vocabulary games, crosswords, and other interactive activities.

And who says learning Russian can’t be fun? We might listen to a Russian song and turn it into a vocabulary quiz, watch a short scene from a Russian movie or cartoon and see how much you understand, or play a game that helps you remember new words and expressions. These activities give us a chance to explore the language as it’s actually spoken, along with the humor and culture behind it.

Your lessons will be tailored to you.

If you’re a complete beginner, we’ll start step by step, with clear explanations and plenty of encouragement. If you already know some Russian, we can focus on improving your conversational skills, expanding your vocabulary, and making your speech sound more natural. We can also work on pronunciation, grammar, reading, or writing, depending on your goals.

Whether you’re learning Russian for travel, work, family, or a love of Russian culture, I want you to leave each lesson feeling that you’ve learned something useful—and that you’re one step closer to speaking Russian with confidence.

Russian may seem complicated, but with me, learning it will be fun and easier than you think!
