About GuanTing
Hi! I'm a native Mandarin and Cantonese speaker from China, currently studying for my bachelor's degree in English. ️ I've already had experience teaching Chinese to Canadian students and have hosted travelers from Germany, Russia, and the UK—so I understand how to connect with learners from different cultures. I'm especially passionate about modern Chinese history, and I love bringing topics like history, politics, and current events into my lessons to make learning more meaningful. Outside of teaching, I enjoy traveling (I've explored Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Guilin, and Hunan), listening to music, watching movies (anything but horror!), and cooking. As a teacher, I'm relaxed and approachable. If a student feels nervous about speaking, I'll start by chatting in English to help them feel at ease, then gently guide them into Chinese at their own pace. My English is fluent enough for daily conversation, so I can explain tricky concepts clearly. I'm especially looking forward to teaching students who are curious about China—particularly those interested in history. Let's learn together!
