About Yeseul

I'm Yeseul, a native Korean speaker from Seoul, based in the United States. I hold a Ph.D. and have spent my career working at the intersection of education, communication, and international affairs.

Before becoming a Korean language teacher, I worked as a news anchor and broadcast journalist in South Korea. This experience trained me to speak with clear, standard pronunciation and to communicate complex information in an accessible way.

I hold professional teaching credentials, including CSET Korean certification (levels 1, 2, and 3) from California, and a Korean language teaching qualification from the Sejeong Institute.

I have taught Korean at the Korean Cultural Center of San Francisco and through language institutes, and I have been teaching students from around the world since 2019.

I am fluent in both Korean and English, which allows me to explain grammar and vocabulary clearly to English-speaking learners. I also have knowledge of Chinese and Japanese, giving me insight into the challenges faced by learners from different language backgrounds.

I am patient, encouraging, and committed to helping each student succeed at their own pace. Whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced learner, I bring professionalism, expertise, and a genuine passion for teaching to every lesson.

안녕하세요! I'm Yeseul, a native Korean speaker from Seoul, based in the US.

My teaching philosophy is simple: learning should feel like a conversation, not a lecture. I create a supportive environment where mistakes are welcomed, and I always explain the "why" behind grammar rules rather than asking students to memorize without context.

I hold a CSET Korean certification (levels 1, 2, 3) and a teaching qualification from the Sejeong Institute. I've taught at the Korean Cultural Center of San Francisco and have been teaching students of all levels since 2019. Before becoming a teacher, I worked as a news anchor in Seoul, so I can help you develop clear, natural pronunciation.

Each lesson is tailored to your goals. We start with conversation practice, then dive into vocabulary, grammar, or listening depending on your needs. I use a mix of textbook materials and real-world content like K-dramas and K-pop to keep things engaging.

I welcome all levels: beginners learning Hangul, intermediate learners building conversation skills, advanced students refining fluency, TOPIK test prep, business Korean, or K-drama fans wanting to ditch the subtitles.
