About Sigwon

I'm a first-year university student at Macquarie University studying accounting and finance. I was born and raised in South Korea, where I completed my mandatory military service before moving abroad. I spent several years at an international school in Southeast Asia with an American curriculum, so I've experienced firsthand what it's like to navigate between Korean and English-speaking worlds.
That bilingual journey is exactly what drives me to teach. I remember the frustration of learning a second language — and the breakthrough moments that made it all worth it. I want to help others experience those same moments with Korean.
Outside of studying and tutoring, I enjoy cooking Korean food, following financial markets, and playing bass guitar. I'm a patient and easygoing person, and I believe the best learning happens when you're comfortable and having fun. If you're curious about the Korean language or culture, I'd love to help you get started.

About the lesson

안녕하세요! I'm Sigwon, a native Korean speaker born and raised in South Korea. Having learned English as a second language myself through an international school environment, I understand the challenges of picking up a new language — and what actually makes it stick.
My lessons focus on real, everyday conversational Korean. Rather than drilling textbook grammar, we'll practice the kind of Korean people actually speak — from casual chatting to polite formal expressions. I tailor each lesson to your goals, whether that's ordering food at a Korean restaurant, understanding your favorite K-drama without subtitles, or building confidence for travel.
Lessons can be held online via Zoom or in person around the North-West Sydney area. Complete beginners are absolutely welcome — we'll start from Hangul and build up naturally. Intermediate learners can expect conversation-heavy sessions to sharpen fluency and pronunciation.
I keep things relaxed and patient. Language learning should feel like a conversation, not a lecture.
