About Sohei
I'm Sohei, a 23-year-old native Japanese speaker from Tokyo, currently based in Brisbane.
I studied English Education at Nihon University, where I developed a deep understanding of how language is taught and learned. Having spent years studying English myself as a non-native language, I know firsthand how challenging — and rewarding — the journey can be.
Most recently, I completed an intensive 6-week language immersion program in Cebu, Philippines, where I pushed my own English skills to the next level. That experience gave me a fresh perspective on effective learning methods and what students actually need to make progress.
I also have some experience teaching English to Japanese students, which means I understand both sides of the language learning journey.
While I am new to formally teaching Japanese, I believe my background in language education and my own experience as a learner give me a genuine understanding of what it takes to progress in a new language.
My approach is simple: your goals, your pace. Come with questions, topics, or just a desire to practice — and we'll make it work.

My lessons are fully tailored to you. Come with your own goals, questions, or topics — and we'll work through them together. No fixed curriculum, no textbook pressure.
If you're not sure where to start, no worries. We can simply have a casual conversation in Japanese, and I'll naturally correct and guide you along the way.
As a native Japanese speaker with strong English communication skills, I can explain the "why" behind Japanese grammar and expressions clearly — something many native speakers struggle to do.
Lessons are typically 30 minutes, perfect for a focused, low-pressure session. Great for beginners and anyone wanting to improve their everyday conversational Japanese.
