About Paola

I'm a young, native Italian teacher. I worked for two years in a high school in Italy and for a year as a tutor, and now live in Montréal. I have a bachelor's degree in Modern Italian Literature and a master's degree in Italian studies. I grew up surrounded by Italian literature and Italian linguistic diversity; my language has been my passion since the very beginning. I use innovative and inclusive teaching methodologies and strongly believe that teaching is a process of exchange where both teacher and student are equals. Teaching is, for me, my life's purpose: my dream is to spread the beauty of the Italian language. My approach aims to ensure that all students, regardless of ability, background or needs, have equal opportunities for learning and participation, to create a learning environment that adapts to diversity and values each student through personalized and flexible learning paths.

About the lesson

Lessons are available to everyone, from those who have no knowledge of Italian to beginners to those who would like to perfect their skills.
I use personalized teaching methods and always adapt them to the student, who is the center of the learning process. Lessons last 1-2 hours, depending on the student's needs. Learning occurs primarily through textbooks, exercises, discussions and conversations with me, reading excerpts, listening to and watching videos and/or film clips.
I am always available to meet the student's needs, for this reason the lessons are very different from student to student. I enjoy using both textbooks and digital methods.
I support my students every step of the learning process. I place great importance on oral production. I care about my students and their learning needs: I believe that teaching is always a wonderful exchange.

Tommy is an excellent student with great conversational skills. Despite the anxiety that all students experience when learning another language, Tommy is able to hold long conversations in real-life settings. I really like his enthusiasm and his passion for Italian. Avanti così!

Chris è forte! His interest in the Italian language and its grammar drives him to always arrive at class prepared and with new questions. I really like his enthusiasm and curiosity. Chris is able to hold conversations in Italian in everyday situations. I think we immediately connected. The first lesson went good, as the others. We're having fun and learning Italian!

I have had the great pleasure of working with Paola as my Italian teacher. She is a soft spoken, well informed teacher who takes the time to get to know her students, using a centered approach giving the maximum result. Her assessment of students’ needs, level of learning and understanding and patience are some of her key points to helping her students learn Italian. Whether you are just starting off, or wanting to improve your skills, her attention to detail and application/delivery of material made it simple, comprehensive and fun! Her approach, enthusiasm, patience and comprehensive baseline, have given me an amazing experience helping me open doors and re-connect with my culture as well as giving me the tools that I need to be able to have and improve my capabilities of having conversations in Italian. It is a wonderful pleasure to work with Paola and I highly recommend her, you will be guided with care, patience and will gain from her personalized lessons while attaining your goals and enjoy a fun, simple and student centered learning approach. Thank you Paola, for guiding me, and helping me get the right tools that I need to reconnect with my culture and improve my Italian speaking abilities!
