About Sibéal

My name is Sibéal and I am a native Irish speaker from the Gaeltacht region of West Kerry, where Irish is the everyday language of my family and community. Languages have always been a central part of my life, and this passion led me to study Irish and Spanish at University College Cork, including a year living in northern Spain where I developed a high level of fluency in Spanish.

I later completed a master’s degree in Scríobh agus Cumarsáid at University College Dublin, a program designed to bring students to a professional translator and interpreter standard in Irish. Throughout my studies I gained valuable teaching experience delivering grammar and oral tutorials, and I have continued to build on this with over six years of experience teaching Irish and Spanish across a wide range of levels.

I am currently working as a special education teacher and training as a secondary school teacher, which gives me a strong insight into the curriculum and the real requirements for success in state examinations. I am passionate about helping students gain confidence in their abilities, and I pride myself on being professional, approachable and fully committed to each student’s progress. My goal is always to meet students at their own level and support them in achieving the results they are capable of.

About the lesson

My name is Sibéal and my approach to tutoring is supportive, structured and fully tailored to each individual student. I believe that confidence is key to language learning, so I create a relaxed but focused environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and developing their skills.

I use a clear, step-by-step methodology that targets the core areas of the curriculum: grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, writing and oral communication. A strong emphasis is placed on exam technique, particularly for oral exams, with regular mock interviews, role-plays and personalized feedback. I also incorporate past exam questions and targeted revision plans to ensure steady progress.

A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, although longer sessions can be arranged closer to exam periods.

I have six years of experience teaching Irish and Spanish at secondary and third-level, including teaching Spanish through Irish in a secondary school, delivering grammar and oral classes during my master’s degree, and preparing students for Junior and Leaving Cert oral and written exams. I am currently training as a secondary school teacher and working as a special education teacher, which allows me to adapt lessons to suit different learning styles and abilities.

My lessons are suitable for Junior Cycle, Leaving Cert, third-level students and adult learners, from beginners to advanced level, including students with additional learning needs.
