About Antaine

I want to teach because working with younger people in the Irish colleges in Corca Dhuibhne, the Kerry Gaeltacht, showed me how rewarding it is to help students grow in confidence and ability through Irish. I also helped my sister achieve 100% in her Irish exam, which I found extremely enjoyable and motivating. Seeing the impact that clear guidance and encouragement can have has inspired me to help other students reach their full potential and achieve their best results.

About the lesson

Teaching Methodology & Approach My teaching approach is student-centered, practical, and communicative. Lessons focus on building confidence in spoken Irish, while also strengthening grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension. I adapt each lesson to the student’s goals—whether that’s exam preparation, conversational fluency, or improving academic Irish. I use a mix of techniques, including: Conversational practice and role-play Structured grammar explanations with clear examples Listening and reading exercises using authentic Irish-language materials Exam-focused strategies where relevant Bilingual explanations (Irish/English) when helpful, gradually increasing immersion Lessons are flexible and interactive, with a strong emphasis on active participation. Typical Length of a Lesson Standard lessons are 60 minutes Shorter 30–45 minute sessions available for revision or conversation practice Longer sessions can be arranged for exam preparation or intensive study Qualifications & Experience 100% in the Leaving Certificate and First Class Honors in University. I am a native Irish Speaker and I am a college student with a strong academic background in the Irish language, having studied Irish to Higher Level and continuing to use Irish regularly in academic and extracurricular contexts. I have experience assisting peers with Irish, particularly in improving spoken fluency, grammar, and exam performance. In addition, I am actively involved in Irish-language societies, such as An Chuallacht in UCC, which has given me practical experience using Irish in real-world and social settings. This allows me to teach Irish as a living language, not just an exam subject.
