About Julie

I was an internationally competitive figure skater, which has provided me with the ability to set short and long-term goals and work towards them in a structured, calculated manner. This has helped me tremendously in my academic career, as I believe that working towards individually set goals is an invaluable tool to a successful and enjoyable student experience.

I hope to share this same ambition and motivation in my students that will lead them to excel in their academic journey, whilst enjoying the process! I aim to build a working relationship that is highly communicative and enables the student to feel comfortable asking any questions that may arise, in a supportive and informed environment.

About the lesson

Hello! I'm Julie, and I am a 3rd year PhD student at the University of Oxford, studying Epidemiology. With over 4 years of tutoring experience, I strive to provide an engaging, goal oriented, student-centric approach to teaching, whilst sharing my motivation, drive and joy of learning!

Having completed a Masters of Arts (MA) degree at the University of St Andrews (graduated with honours) and a Masters of Medical Science (MMSc) degree (Upper 1st Degree with Distinction) at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden, my experience is based on high achievement at top Universities. I have a unique and extensive insight into what the admissions teams, examiners and lecturers at first class Universities in the UK are looking for. Using this knowledge, I tailor my lessons to the students' requirements and needs, to help them achieve their academic goals and build up their confidence! I enjoy sharing the effective learning strategies I have accumulated through my own teaching, and provide tips to make their learning process as efficient and enjoyable as possible.

I am bilingual in German and English and have studied and tutored German, Biology, Maths, Statistics, Public Health Policy, coding in R, and Epidemiology. I therefore am highly equipped in teaching these subjects to students of all levels and ages.

I was accepted into all 5 of my UCAS University choices (St Andrews, Edinburgh, Duram, Bristol, and Imperial), followed by an acceptance into the DPhil program at the University of Oxford. I am therefore very confident in mentoring students on the Oxbridge admissions interviews, and on their UCAS application to any UK University.
