About Delphine
I was raised in Geneva, Switzerland, a French speaking part of Switzerland. Swiss French is known to be slower paced, and we have a very neutral accent, which makes it ideal to be a tutor!
I went on to study early childhood education, and did a lot of tutoring during my studies. French was always one of my strengths at school, especially grammar and writing essays, and I really enjoyed passing that along to my students. I especially enjoyed trying to find ways to engage my students, finding personalized texts that I knew they'd enjoy reading, or having them write about something they love, so that they would practice skills while having fun.
I now live in Oceanside, California, where I raised my 2 daughters who, I made sure, grew up to become completely fluent in French!

It starts by listening to the student, and understanding the level they're at, the goals and the approach that will work best for that individual. I am patient, positive and encouraging. I realize that French is not an easy language to learn! But I know that we can find ways to make it more pleasant and make it make sense! Whether it is by explaining rules and why they exist, conversations about the topic of your choice to help with pronunciation and vocabulary, or reading books or texts together to develop understanding and reading skills.
I have tutored children, teenagers and adults, mostly in Switzerland but here as well. I helped with grammar, essay writing, text analysis and conversation. Whether it is for homework and test prep, or for the ones that simply want to develop a new skill!
