About Yann
Hey! I'm Yann, originally from France — so yes, French is literally my first language. I grew up speaking it at home, at school, with friends, and I still speak it all the time with my family back in France.
I moved to the US a few years ago and built a career as a software engineer, which honestly just means I'm pretty good at breaking things down and making them easy to understand. No overcomplicated explanations, I promise.
I live in Encinitas and I genuinely enjoy teaching. There's something really satisfying about watching someone go from "I can't speak a word of French" to actually holding a conversation. That moment is the best part.
If you're motivated and want to actually learn — not just memorize conjugation tables — I think we'll get along great.

My lessons are fully personalized to what you actually need. Before we start, I take the time to understand your goal — whether that's preparing for a trip to France, passing an exam, or just finally being able to hold a conversation without freezing up.
Each session is conversational and hands-on. I don't read from a script or follow a rigid textbook. We practice real dialogue, I correct your pronunciation and grammar in the moment, and I explain the "why" behind the rules so things actually stick.
I'm flexible with scheduling and happy to adjust the pace based on how you're progressing. Lessons are available online via Zoom or in person in the Encinitas and San Diego area.
By the end of our first lesson, you'll already be speaking, not just studying.
