About Obed

I’m a native French speaker, journalist, and educator with a master’s degree and over five years of teaching experience. I know from personal experience what it takes to master a new language. When I moved to the U.S. in 2019, I spoke almost no English. Step by step, I learned to use the language in everyday life—and today, I’ve written front-page articles for The Washington Post, produced English-language video stories for the Associated Press (including an interview with Pope Leo XVI’s brother broadcast worldwide), and even appeared on CBS Morning. I can use that same firsthand experience to help you achieve the same in French. I’ve taught high school students complex subjects like geometry and college students filmmaking. My teaching is inspired by my dad, who dedicated 25 years to public school teaching before retiring. I focus on making lessons practical, engaging, and tailored to your interests, hobbies, and everyday life—helping students of all ages gain confidence in French for school, work, or leisure.

About the lesson

I believe the best way to learn French is to connect it to your everyday life. My lessons use real-life situations and build on your hobbies, interests, and daily experiences, so learning feels natural and fun. With 5 years of experience teaching high school and college students, I design lessons that are conversational, engaging, and multimedia-rich—drawing on my background as a journalist. A typical lesson mixes conversation, grammar, and cultural insights, always tailored to your level and goals. What sets me apart is my ability to make lessons lively, interactive, and practical. Whether you’re a kid, young adult, or professional, I help you gain confidence in French—whether for leisure, school, or work. Lessons are available for beginners, intermediates, and advanced learners.
