About Romane

My life has been a journey across cultures and disciplines. Born in France and raised bilingual with my Irish roots, I've had the privilege of living and working around the globe. My professional career as a chemical engineer in Germany and the US honed my skills in precision and communication. But my true passion for teaching was ignited when I volunteered to teach English in a small village in Colombia. Now based back home in Ireland, I combine my professional background with my love for language to offer lessons that are both effective and engaging. My goal is to help you achieve fluency by sharing my real-world experience.

About the lesson

My Teaching Methodology: My approach is focused on practical, real-world conversation. I believe the best way to become fluent is by actively speaking. We'll move beyond the textbook and grammar drills and dive into engaging discussions tailored to your interests and goals. My lessons are designed to be interactive and supportive. We can use a variety of techniques to make learning fun and effective, such as: -Role-playing different scenarios (ordering at a restaurant, job interviews, meeting new people). -Discussing current events, articles, or short videos to build your vocabulary. -Practicing pronunciation and a natural accent. I provide a relaxed and encouraging environment where you can feel confident making mistakes and learning from them. Typical Lesson Structure: A standard lesson usually lasts 60 minutes to allow for a full, in-depth conversation. However, I can also offer shorter 30 or 45-minute sessions if that works better for your schedule. A typical lesson includes: -A brief check-in to discuss your week and any specific topics you want to cover. -The main conversational practice and activities. -A short wrap-up to review new vocabulary and set goals for the next lesson. My Qualifications & Experience: I am a native French and English speaker with a strong passion for language. I have practical teaching experience from my time in Colombia, where I helped students of various ages and backgrounds become more confident speakers. My background as a qualified engineer also allows me to offer specialized lessons in professional or technical vocabulary if needed. Who My Lessons Are For: My lessons are for anyone who wants to speak French with more confidence, from teenagers to adults. I can help you whether you are: -A beginner who wants to learn the basics and get comfortable speaking. -An intermediate speaker looking to build fluency and expand your vocabulary. -An advanced speaker who wants to maintain their level and practice with a native. -A traveler, student, or professional preparing for a specific trip, exam, or job.
