About Shirin

I am a political scientist who specializes in public policy. I’m also a musician and a runner. I love languages and speak 4 comfortably. I love teaching farsi to those who are language lovers and want to learn more about Iran and the region.

About the lesson

I base my teaching method on three things:
1. Why you want to learn this language (career or self interest)
2. How you learn best (written, verbal, or visual)
3. What you plan to do with the language (translator, college credit, significant other, work placement, law or politics, culture and language)

Perfect! I have loved working with Shirin on learning Farsi; her curriculum is challenging without being boring or busywork. Shirin understands my goals with the language and my background, and really dedicates herself to helping me in the ways that I need. Her passion for teaching Farsi is infectious-- I always feel excited for our lessons, as well as excited to study in the week leading up to a lesson! Thank you, Shirin, for being such a great prof!
