About Mario

Hello!

My name is Mario and I am an engineer by trade but have a deep love for the Italian language and am eager to help other English speakers learn the language that has opened up an entirely new world for me. I have several years of tutoring experience, both in a classroom and in one-on-one contexts.

I lived in Turin, Italy for 4.5 years where I learned the language primarily through immersion and self-studying but had the wonderful opportunity of exercising the language in a professional context for 2 of those years. I will soon hold my CILS C2 certification so I can provide tutoring from A1 (beginner) up to C1 (Advanced/Fluent).

My tutoring style is largely based on the goals of the student and which areas of the language they are hoping to improve. That being said, I can work alongside any level of students (from elementary school to university) as they are completing homework, studying for exams or simply trying to master a new grammatical concept.

I can also offer lessons entirely in Italian or hybrid lessons based on the students level.

I hope to provide a fun and engaging learning experience for all my students and most of all encourage them to pursue their language goals (with Italian of course!).

Humility is huge for me so I hope to remind anyone I work with that we cannot fail when we are in a constant state of practice!

What sets me apart:

I am a native English speaker and will soon have the CILS C2 certificate for Italian. I lived in the north of Italy for 4.5 years and became fluent through immersion, and had the opportunity to work for 2 years entirely in Italian. Living and working in Italy for all that time has definitely given me a strong understanding of the Italian language, including pronunciation, cadence, intonation, slang, cultural references, and sayings.

Lessons are for: All ages and levels of Italian.

Lessons can contain, but are not limited to:

Speaking practice, writing, grammar concepts and exercises, media recommendations, exam studying, homework help, and self-improvement.
