About Helen
Hi! I'm Helen, a native Mandarin Chinese speaker and a Year 12 A-Level student in the UK. I am currently studying Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Economics and Physics, giving me experience in both language learning and academic study.
I have worked as a teaching assistant and enjoy helping students develop confidence in their learning. I understand the challenges of learning a new language and create a relaxed, supportive environment where students feel comfortable speaking and asking questions.
In addition to teaching Mandarin, I can also explain subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in Chinese for students whose first language is Mandarin or for bilingual learners who need extra academic support.
Whether you're learning Chinese for HSK, travel, work or personal interest, I will tailor each lesson to your goals and learning pace.

My lessons are personalised and interactive, focusing on practical communication as well as HSK preparation. I follow the HSK Standard Course for students preparing for exams, while also including speaking practice, listening activities and vocabulary revision.
For complete beginners, I start with pronunciation (Pinyin), everyday conversations and gradually introduce Chinese characters. Lessons are taught in a friendly and encouraging environment to help students build confidence and enjoy learning Mandarin.
